Diastasis — divergence of the rectus abdominis – occurs in most people, but not everyone suspects it. It all depends on the degree of discrepancy. In the risk zone, women who have just given birth-they are the ones who most often face this cosmetic flaw, which can turn into serious health problems.
Diagnostics at home
40% of women who become mothers face this problem. In men, diastasis also occurs, but about ten times less often. How do I diagnose diastasis? There is a functional test that can be done at home. In some cases, for example, when there is excess weight, only ultrasound will help.

So, lie down on the floor, bend your legs at the knees. We put two fingers over the navel and slowly raise our head. If there is no diastasis, then strong muscles will literally push your fingers out. If diastasis is present, the fingers will begin to fail. The same should be repeated, placing the fingers below the navel. The depth of diastasis can also be determined-literally using a ruler. There are three stages. Divergence of muscles up to 2.7 centimeters is considered the norm. After giving birth within a few months, this stretch can be eliminated by itself.

1-easy stage. Separation of the muscles of up to 5 cm

2-middle stage. The divergence of the muscles is 7-10 cm. Diastasis is visible to the naked eye.

3-severe stage. The discrepancy is up to 15-20 centimeters.

Usually, patients do not complain of pain with diastasis, since it is a cosmetic problem: flabby skin below the navel, a bulging roll of fat or a telltale bump, mound. Pumping the press doesn’t help… But when it comes to deep diastasis, you can not avoid health problems, including:

umbilical hernia;

increased intra-abdominal pressure;

omission of internal organs.

In the case of the second or third stage, no exercise, alas, will not help.

Large diastasis can not be ignored, it can affect subsequent pregnancy. With diastasis, it will be more difficult to bear a child.

An important point: before going to a plastic surgeon, I advise you to wait nine months after giving birth. Not all exercises are equally useful
