Genes, lifestyle, endurance and more: why women live much longer than men

Life expectancy is increasing in all countries of the world, and women on average leave the world ten years later than men. Scientists have found out the reasons why the weaker sex should not be called weak for a long time.
According to figures for 2019, in Russia, the average life expectancy of men was 68.5 years. And women – 78.5. The numbers are growing, and health Department officials hope that the upper bar will soon rise to 80 years.

Doctor and TV presenter Elena Malysheva explains that the reason for the increase in life expectancy is associated with good diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases. Recall that it is ischemic heart disease and stroke that claim the most human lives in the world – 15.2 million deaths in 2016. These diseases are still the leading causes of death in the world. According to the TV presenter, in Russia, five times less likely to die from heart attacks, and from strokes-three times.

Scientists continue to ask another question: why do women (in almost all countries of the world) live longer than men? And it seems that the answers are found.

Genes
Yes, we were lucky by nature. The biological advantage is on the side of women, so we play a major role in reproduction, giving life to others. A woman should not only bear and give birth to healthy offspring, but also be close to them in the first years of life to ensure their survival. It is the same in the animal world.

And Professor David James of University College London reminds us: “male embryos are more likely to die than female ones.” His colleague Lorna Harris from the University of Exeter adds that boys are 20-30% more likely to die in late pregnancy. They are also usually larger and therefore more prone to injuries during childbirth.
Physiological factor
Nature has protected the female cardiovascular system with estrogen — the main female sex hormone. They protect women from cardiovascular diseases. And also protect the telomeres. The latter consist of specialized linear chromosomal DNA, they protect the end sections of our chromosomes, ensuring the maintenance of the integrity of the genome during cell division, writes Le Figaro.

And any psychologist will say that women are naturally more adaptable, resilient. In a difficult life situation, it is the weaker sex that quickly gets used to new circumstances, demonstrating greater flexibility. Perhaps this is due again to the fact that a woman needs to take care of her offspring.

Discipline
Agree, most women are much more responsible approach to health issues. Female representatives often go to the doctor’s office, undergo examinations and follow the necessary instructions. Men are more difficult to persuade to go to the clinic. Only if you paint bleak prospects or threaten a serious diagnosis. Until then, almost everyone will have a hundred reasons to ignore the disturbing symptoms.

Lifestyle
Due to military conflicts, crimes in which men are more often involved, their life expectancy is reduced (our country, as everyone remembers, suffered huge male losses during the second world war-Approx.) According to statistics, men are more prone to Smoking, overeating and alcoholism. All of the above also reduces their life expectancy.
By own strength
Better safe than sorry. Doctors say that if patients were more responsible for their own health, they would live longer. What habits should be introduced into the usual course of life to qualify for the title of centenarian?

Undergo an annual medical examination. Examination of the body will allow you to diagnose a number of diseases at an early stage, to understand what state the body is in at the moment and how to help yourself.

If possible, give up bad habits: Smoking, alcohol, addiction to fatty foods, fast food. Over the years, all of the above will necessarily affect your health.

Make physical activity a part of life. Gym classes, swimming, Hiking, dancing – what brings pleasure.

Increase your interest in life. Travel more and create bright emotions (it is clear that you need money for the first one!) When a person is passionate about something, they will have an incentive to live as long as possible. This is especially true for older people, who often do not see the meaning of life for themselves.

Communicate more with your loved ones. The Russians named their family as the main reason for their happiness. According to a survey by VTSIOM, 29% of citizens consider themselves happy due to healthy relatives and children nearby. And happy people live longer and are not afraid of old age.
